Morocco Itinerary 9 Days Tour Plan:

Day 1 : Arrival Fes

The 9 days Morocco tour from Fes will start with a pick-up from the airport or your accommodation in Fes. Then we start to explore the highlights of the oldest imperial city (Fes). Your visit will include all sites with cultural and historical interest, such as the famous Al-Qaraouine University and an old Jewish quarter called Mellah, the Royal Palace gate, and the old Medina, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

After that, we explore the leather factory (Chouara Tannery). And then drive to an ancient fortress for a wonderful panoramic view of the whole Medina of Fes. Overnight at a hotel/riad.

Day 2 : Fes to Merzouga Dunes (470 km)

Today, we’ll depart from Fes and drive to Ifrane and visit the Atlas Lion statue before heading to Azrou, along the largest cedar forest in Morocco (home of Barbary macaques). We’ll stop for lunch in Midelt. Then we continue through Errachidia, Ziz Valley, and Erfoud toward the Merzouga Desert, where you can take a camel ride over the sandy desert and witness a magnificent sunset on top of the dunes on your way to the Sahara camp.

Upon arrival at the desert camp, you’ll enjoy a delicious dinner and then gather around the campfire to enjoy traditional Berber drum music under the starry sky. Spend the night in a traditional tent.

Day 3 : Merzouga Sahara Exploration

An early morning wake-up is recommended to witness the magical sunrise in the middle of the Sahara desert. After breakfast. You’ll ride a camel back to the point where our driver will be waiting to start exploring the region of the Merzouga desert. First, we drive to Khamlia to enjoy the Gnaoua music, and we visit the nomadic people in their handmade woven tents to explore their way of life while enjoying a cup of Berber tea.

After lunch in a restaurant, we take a stroll along the palm tree grove and then drive to Merzouga Lake, where we can see beautiful flamingo birds. Overnight in a hotel.

Day 4 : Merzouga Desert to Dades (264 km)

After breakfast, we’ll leave the Merzouga Desert, cherishing the beautiful memories we made. Then we make our way to Rissani to explore its large souk/market and visit one of the fossil workshops in Erfoud. After that, we move on towards the Todra Gorges via the palm groves of Tinjdad. At the gorge, we stop for lunch and to admire the breathtaking views.

After lunch, we drive to Dades Valley, stopping along the way to enjoy the amazing vistas of rock formations known as monkey toes. Dinner and overnight at a local hotel.

Day 5 : Dades Valley to Marrakech (350 km)

Today, we’ll continue our trip along the road of 1000 Kasbahs to Rose Valley, famous for its annual Festival of Roses. Then we drive through the palm grove of Skoura to Ouarzazate, where we visit Atlas Studio and Kasbah Taourirt. After that, we depart to visit the largest Kasbah in Morocco, Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. A fortified town recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Also, the Kasbah was used as a backdrop for more than 20 films and TV series, such as Game of Thrones, Gladiator, The Mummy, etc.

Later, we’ll head to Marrakech through the Tizi n’Tichka pass (2260 m). Stops will be made to enjoy panoramic views of the fascinating mountains and visit the rural Argan Oil Cooperative. Spend the night in Marrakech.

Day 6 : Explore Marrakech with a Local Guide

Today will be dedicated to exploring the Red City of Marrakech with a local guide. Our guide will ensure that you visit all the historical sites and cultural spots, such as the Bahia Palace, Lmnara, the Saadian tombs, and the Majorelle Garden. Moreover, we’ll explore the Koutoubia Mosque and stroll through Medina’s large Souk/Market. Then you will have free time to wander in the famous Jemaa El Fna Square, where you will see storytellers, musicians, snake charmers, healers, and countless food stalls.

Day 7 : Transfer to Essaouira (177 km)

After breakfast, we’ll drive about 3 hours from Marrakech toward the charming city of Essaouira (known as Mogador). On the way, we stop at an argan oil women’s cooperative to watch how they make precious argan oil using traditional techniques. Upon arrival at Essaouira, we stroll at the fishing port and explore the old Portuguese fortress, where the ancient cannons lined up overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. After that, we visit the old Madina and wander its streets, which are filled with local handicrafts and souvenir shops. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 8 : Essaouira to Rabat (457 km)

Today, we’ll leave Essaouira and make our way to Casablanca to explore its highlights. First, we visit one of the largest functioning mosques in Africa, the Hassan 2 mosque, which is located on a promontory overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Next, we visit the Moroccan Mall shopping center and stroll along the city’s Cornish. Then we drive along the coastline to the capital city of Morocco (Rabat). Overnight stay at a hotel.

Day 9 : Rabat to Fes via Meknes (256 km)

In Rabat, we’ll visit the Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the beautiful Oudaya Garden before we head to the archaeological site of Volubilis (Walili). Volubilis is the most attractive site in the region, as it is recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
